His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, newly coronated king of the Yoruba, made a visit to Columbia University earlier this month for a panel event in his honor exploring the changing role of royalty in social entrepreneurship, governance and cultural preservation. Laolu was invited to speak on the panel discussing the rising presence and future of Yoruba culture in the Western mainstream . The event was hosted by Applause Africa in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund and Columbia University. Special guests and panelists included Professor Wande Abimbola, Professor Rowland Abiodun of Amherst College, actor Gbenga Akinnagbe, designer Busayo Olupona and Desiree Gordon.
