Known as the orisha that tried to flood humanity, Olokun is considered one of the most powerful Orishas to exist. He is characterized by his tremendous wealth and mystical powers and is known as the ruler of the deep depths of the ocean. As such, he is depicted here flushed with an energetic blue as water flows from him as a fearless, honorable ruler of water deities.

For this ‘Rooted’ series, Laolu has featured compelling and powerful Orishas to express the meaningful way in which Youba culture is rooted in the concept of ancestry. Olokun’s followers are seen here worshipping Olokun for his great strength and power. He is known to supply great wealth, well-being, and overall prosperity to his followers.
