TITLE: Yewa

Medium: Acrylic on Wood

For this ‘Rooted’ series, Laolu has featured compelling and powerful Orishas to express the meaningful way in which Youba culture is rooted in the concept of ancestry.

Yea is a warrior Trisha and signifies key life processes. She is not only a representation of chastity of fertility, but also of the completion of life, as she helps people through process of death and the journey to the afterlife.
